God Is Smarter (Pt 4)

Ephesians 3:20

'Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us'

God is simply bigger!

How often do we feel overwhelmed with situations and circumstances? How often do we feel that the task ahead is unreachable? How often have we prayed amiss because we feel that the journey is simply impossible? How often have we been left in despair by events? But God is simply bigger!

God is beyond the confines of our imaginations. God is beyond the limits of our comprehension. God is beyond the walls of our thoughts and desires. This is clearly expressed in our passage today - Ephesians 3:20 'Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us'. Notice the expression 'EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY ABOVE ALL that we ask or think'. Wow, above all! And you know, ALL means ALL; ALL means everything and includes everything we think.

Again notice something about this passage - it says 'NOW'. This means right now. This very moment you are reading this. God is saying 'I can do over and above for you' 'I can do over and above your thoughts and imagination' 'I am bigger'! Matthew 14:6-11 tells us about an encounter between Herod the king and the daughter of Herodias, who danced and pleased the king on his birthday. In verse 7, the king asked the damsel to request for 'whatever'. Please notice the word 'whatever' or 'anything'. Matthew 14:7 'Therefore he promised with an oath to give her whatever she might ask.' You see, the king knew that there was nothing within the limits of this girl's imagination that he wouldn't afford to give to her, even to half of his kingdom, if she had the 'capacity' to request for it. However, the damsel by the advise of her mother asked for something that was outside her own imagination, which was sadly the head of John the Baptist. And still this was within the king's capacity and the scriptures says that it was given to her on a platter. Matthew 14:11 'And his head was brought on a platter and given to the girl, and she brought it to her mother'. This story should hopefully not take us away from the context of our devotion. But note that the king had in his capacity everything that was within and outside the confines of the damsel's imagination - for her request was granted.

Now imagine your 3 years or even 5 year old son or daughter? Imagine his or her 'world' and everything going through his or her mind? Imagine asking him or her what he or she will like for his or her birthday or even asking him or her to 'request for anything'. I am sure you will be very confident that there is NOTHING in his or her young imaginations that you cannot afford or give (perhaps in the right time). You just know you can do it for your child. How much more God Almighty, our Heavenly Father.

In Psalms 2:8, God says 'Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession'. Wow! But can we believe and dare to ask? Can you dare to believe God today? Can you dare to reach out now, ask and believe Him for a turnaround in that situation? Can you dare to ask?

Remember, God is simply bigger!

Do have a wonderful week and God bless you.
