The testimonies of Jesus (i.e. the miracles of Jesus as recorded in the bible), should propel us to act accordingly in faith, so as to attract our own breakthroughs.

When we hear and receive the word of God, it triggers our faith to act in the direction of The Word. Romans 10:17 KJV For faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
Matthew 14:35-36
And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased and besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.
This is a story that is often overlooked or perhaps overshadowed by the story of the death of John the baptist, the feeding of the five thousand or the fact that Jesus walked on water. However, what a tremendously remarkable experience these people of Gennesaret had!
The bible records that when they heard of Jesus, when they heard that the powerful one, the one with so much anointing and power was in their town, they just couldn’t let him go without getting their own miracles. They couldn’t keep calm!
The explanation in our text actually has some humour to it. Imagine this: “Hey guys, the man that has anointing is in our community, come out! The guy that walked on water, that same guy that fed a multitude, he is in our community! Bring all your sick, line up, take numbers! We’ve booked him to stand still for a couple of hours only. We have limited time so hurry up, run out! He has agreed to our terms: no speaking, no interaction, just let each of our townsmen touch the hem of your garment swiftly, one by one. He has agreed! Guys listen up! Our 2 hours window is running out. Hurry up, take your place in line. Its a touch and go business! Come and get healed of anything at all! The master is in town!”
If that was their town-crier, he sure did a great job because the bible says, they all came out, they all touched and they were all perfectly healed. Wow! What an occasion, what a testimony, what an experience. They heard of Jesus and called their entire community to come partake in this good thing.
Take some time to meditate on the numerous lessons here.
Then again, we may be more familiar with the story of the woman popularly referred to as the woman with the issue of blood. Who had bled for 12 years and didn’t get any better. The bible records in Mark chapter 5 that this woman heard something. That when she heard that Jesus was in town, she told herself. If only I can touch the hem of His garment, I will be healed.
Mark 5:27-29 (NKJV)
When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”mImmediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction.
What did she hear about this Jesus?
This is it…
She heard that in Gennesaret, a whole community came out, lined up, touched the hem of the garment of this same Jesus, and they were completely healed of all manner of diseases. Then she thought to herself, I also can partake of this. She plugged into this testimony, this true record of Jesus and she left her shame, her smell, her uncleanliness and went in search of Jesus’ hem because she was persuaded that what happened to the community of Gennesaret, could happen to her. And she moved in the direction of her faith. She got her healing, despite the crowd. Wow!
This is a clear example of keying into a testimony of Jesus.
So, what have we done with the word of God we have heard? What purposeful action have we taken regarding the testimony of Jesus which we have heard and read about in the bible? Are we sitting on gold here? Can we overcome the thought of public opinion, the thought and self-talk of “what will people think of or say about me”, and like the woman with the issue of blood, let our faith and our confession be towards Jesus? Can we act today?
Todays episode is a call to reflect and act.
We have heard about Jesus. We have read about His testimonies and His unrivalled track record in His holy word. We have seen and experienced His grace and mercy in our lives and circumstances. Surely we all have. But what faith actions are we taking?
Now, it's time to fill our hearts with these words, stir up our faith, open the door, walk out persuasively and purposefully, focusing on our miracle, as we proceed in faith to touch the hem of Jesus’ garment.
Jesus is in town. Jesus is available. Reach out and touch Him today. Amen.
God bless you.
Prayers: Lord Jesus, today I have heard your word. I am courageous and I have faith in your word. Your word is true and powerful and I believe that it is working in my life even right now. I key into these testimonies and I take steps forward in faith. I refuse to stay back. Lord Jesus, as I step out in faith, grant me the strength to carry on until I touch and get my miracle, in your holy and precious name I pray, amen!
