God Is Smarter (Pt 3)

Jeremiah 18:3-6

Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the wheel. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make. Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says the Lord. “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel!

Grand design!

Where are you at the moment? How do you feel about your life, family, career, ministry and business? Angry? Depressed? Anxious? Frustrated? Downcast? Down and out? Discouraged? Or perhaps you are happy, excited and have a feeling of fulfillment? Well, there is good news for you today. God has not finished with you yet!

In our passage today, in Jeremiah chapter 18, the Almighty God took prophet Jeremiah to the potter's house, so He could speak to him through his (Jeremiah's) observations. And there was the potter with clay in his hands making something at the wheel. But the vessel he was making seemed to be marred. However, notice that the marred vessel was still in the hands of the potter and he (the potter) made another vessel out of the 'marred one' as it seemed 'good' to the potter to make.

Then God spoke in Jeremiah 18:6 “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says the Lord. “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel!

This is wonderful indeed. Oh child of God listen to what the Lord is saying to you right at this moment, irrespective of your situation or condition: '...as the clay is in the potter's hand, SO ARE YOU IN MY HAND'. God is saying 'son, daughter I am not finished with you. I am making something great and special of you' 'If only you will allow Me and trust wholly in Me'

Wow! Our Heavenly Father, the Almighty God, the Master builder and Maker is saying 'I am not finished with you'. Hebrews 3:4 says 'For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God'. God is the Master builder and He is saying ' My son, My daughter trust me - I have a Grand design of you in view'. Isaiah 49:16 brings this a bit closer to us - 'See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me'. God is saying 'Son, Daughter I have you in the palm of My hands'. Wow! This is confidence boosting. Our confidence has to hit the roof with this assurance, if only we can trust Him.

Does the journey appear very tough and rough at the moment? Are there many unanswered questions and issues all around? Do you feel marred at this moment? Are you at the point of despair? Can you reach out to our Heavenly Father and trust Him: for He has a GRAND DESIGN of the situation in view. Reach out in faith and trust Him - you will see what HE will make out of you. For Genesis 1:31 says 'Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good'
