PEACE

Psalms 119: 165

Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

Great Peace

Look around this moment! What do you see? What do you feel? How do you feel? There seem to be so much trouble around, inside and outside! There seem to be appearances of eminent danger! There seem to be trouble on every side! Good news! There is peace...great peace for God's people. There is peace ordained for you, as a child of God. There is peace that is associated with our relationship with God. It is awesome indeed that in the midst of the troubles around, we can experience the peace of God that comes because of our knowledge of God. Knowing that God is in control of our lives. It is awesome!

Notice the words of the Psalmist in our passage today Psalms 119:165 'Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them'. They that love your law for emphasis. There is always peace that comes as a result of our love for God and His word.

Isaiah 26:3 further buttresses this 'Thou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee'.

You see, when we know and understand God, we can trust Him. And when we put all our trust in Him, then perfect peace, great peace is guaranteed. God is saying that He will keep you in perfect peace if you trust Him. God is saying 'My son, my daughter I am taking the responsibility for your peace if you can trust me wholly'. Notice from the expression of that verse - '...whose mind is stayed on thee'. In other words, complete and total dependence on God guarantees perfect peace and God says that He will take full responsibility for it. 2 Thessalonians 3:16 affirms this 'Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all'. You see, when our minds is fully stayed on (and trusting) in God, then we would not worry or be anxious. Our attention will be fully focused on God and the peace we will experience knows no bounds. In fact, the scripture says it passes all understanding.

Philippians 4:6-7 says 'Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus'. Awesome indeed! The peace of God that surpasses all understanding. No one can understand it but we can experience it through complete and total dependence on God.

Do you feel stressed and troubled by situations and circumstances? Do you feel perplexed and downcast? Cast it all unto the Lord and trust Him wholly, and you will experience the peace of God. Have a peaceful week as you trust in the Lord. God bless you.
