For God Is My Father

Ephesians 3:14-15

For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,

My Father and my family!

Over time, there has been so much divisions in the body of Christ - the church! We often hear people and ourselves say things like I belong to this church or I belong to this denomination. And that has left us with religion, with no solid foundation to hold unto. This lack of understanding of our position may have affected our walk with God and hence brought about so much division in the church today.

Ephesians 3:14-15 tells us that we belong to a family. Hallelujah! You belong to a family. As believers, we belong to a family and God is our father, whose name we all bear. Hallelujah! We are in one family. My father and my family! Understanding this will break every denominational and religious barrier and in turn enhance our relationship and walk with God our Father.

In Matthew 6:9, Jesus whilst teaching us how to pray said "In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name". Our father! This is amazing. This surely takes our walk and understanding of God to a whole new level. My father! (Could you take a few minutes and whisper these words out to yourself repeatedly - My father! My father! Amazing feeling, isn't it). As a Christian and a child of God, you have a father and you belong to a family. There is no need to feel lonely and dejected anymore. You belong to a family. Romans 8:15 says we can call God father. "For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but you have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father". Amazing, we can call Him Father.

Ephesians 1:6 puts this in another perspective - "To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved". You see, we are all accepted in the beloved. This should give everyone us a great sense of belonging. We are truly accepted in the family of God and we have been called to have fellowship with Him. It is wonderful that we can relate with God as a father in the same way we do with our earthly fathers. 1 John 1:3 says "that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ". Notice that our fellowship is with the Father. This should be a confident booster for everyone of us.

Take a moment and think about your relationship with God. Can you call Him father - 'My Father'? It is high time we take our relationship with Him to the next level and relate as family.

Do have a wonderful week. God bless you
