Walk In Love (Pt 5)

Walk in Love Part 5 “No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.” I John 4:12-13, 16 NKJV God is there! Take a look around where you are right now. What are people saying about God? What are people saying about Christians? What are people saying about you? What are people saying about us? You see, sometimes it is good to get feedback from time to time. You probably have heard it over and over that there is no God. 'If there is God why is this and that happening'. I guess such expressions are not new to us today! However, looking closely at the passage we just read, "No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us". Wow, this is life transforming! The scripture says no one has seen God at any time and it means no one. But know this, when we love, God is there. "If we love one another, God abides in us.." God abides! God is there, hallelujah! You see, God is love! God is an embodiment of love. So when we express love, God is there. I John 3:16-17 NKJV better puts this in context... “By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?” In other words, how can we say there is God but can't show love. Notice what 1 John 3:16-17 says: when someone who has this world's good but fails to open his heart...show love, how then does the love of God abide? We can only begin to understand love from God's perspective. Luke 10:30-37 tells the story of a man who on his way to Jerusalem fell among the thieves, who stripped him, wounded him and left him half dead. A priest and a levite came along by chance and passed by without helping. But a Samaritan came by, showed him compassion and ministered to his needs. Jesus at the end this story, tells us that the Samaritan was this man's neighbor. Though the Samaritan never met this man before but he showed him compassion. The world needs to see God through us. Our community needs to see God through us and we need to see God through each other. Often our faith has been mocked or have become a mockery because we failed to walk in love or show love to someone. When we walk in love, God is there...God abides. And the world, our community and neighborhood will see God through us. Hence, walking in love should be our commitment. Do have a wonderful week and God bless you.
