Words Are Powerful Pt 1

1 Peter 3:10-11 (NKJV)

“For He who would love life and see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit. Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it.”

‭‭

Is there any relationship between long life and the words of our mouth?

Is there a direct correlation between the quality of our lives and what we say?

Absolutely yes!

Well there surely is because the Bible which is the word of God says so.

Notice the words in the verse we just read: 'he who would love life, and see good days'. This highlights both the length and quality of life; and states that something then needs to be done about it.

Number one: Let him keep his mouth from speaking evil.

Number two: Let him keep his lips from speaking deceit. Notice both are spoken words.

We indeed have a responsibility to keep our mouths, to watch what we say to people, to friends and to enemies alike, to our spouse, our partner and to everyone. Because what we say surely has an effect on us, on our future and the quality of our lives.

What we say therefore has an effect on our destinies so to say. It determines the bearing and quality of our lives. “You are snared by the words of your mouth; You are taken by the words of your mouth.” Proverbs‬ ‭6:2.

‬Let us discipline ourselves and keep our mouths/words in check so we can enjoy good days.

Quickly take a moment to reflect on the past week. What did you say to or about someone? What did you say about a friend or neighbor or your spouse. What do you think about those words? Evil, Deceit or Good?

If you feel you have not spoken good words, try to make corrections this week. Replace evil, hurtful and harmful words with good, encouraging and inspirational words. Do something about your words today.

Have a great week. God bless you. Amen.
