Walk In Love (Pt 3)

Walk in love Part 3 Colossians 3:14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. Love is a choice Imagine standing in front of your wardrobe in the morning thinking of what to wear! I guess you did not just command your clothes to get on your body. You made a conscious effort to get to your wardrobe or closet, select your clothes and put them on. Sometime, our first choice does not match or suit the occasion which makes us go through the whole process of making another choice of clothes to put on. Such is love, as described in the passage we just read - But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. Think about this powerful statement for a moment...'PUT ON LOVE'. So love can be put on.....you can wear it so to say. Love is not a feeling. Love is a choice. There is an effort in love and we have a choice to make in loving people, even when we don't feel like it. We can put on love as this scripture suggests. You see, you can wake up in the morning and put on love. You can wake up in the morning and decide to treat people well and right. You can decide to treat your spouse well. Decidedly, we can wake up in the morning and put 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 'Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things'. We can put on long suffering, kindness, forgiveness, humility. Yes we can! But it is a choice. Also notice from the passage Colossians 3:14, 'But above all these things....'. Meaning it is vital. It brings everything together. Our choice to put on love brings everything together. Remember, our master, Jesus called it the first and the great commandment...'to love'. For Jesus said 'on this (love) hang all the law and prophet. To love. Above all, to put on love also means that God is so interested in how we treat people. Gods word says, that above all that we are doing, put on love. Show love to someone and be loving to people. For love is the bond of perfection!
