Godliness Pays (Pt 3)

“But the LORD was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.” Genesis‬ ‭39:21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ Godliness ensures protection! You see, what you value, you will cherish and protect. As children of God, we are of more value and importance to Him than we are to ourselves. In the scripture above, here is Joseph who was wrongfully and unjustly imprisoned, shortly after he stayed true to God in the midst of constant temptations and challenges to commit immorality. He ended up in prison, a place of loneliness or despair so to say; A place where one can be subject to bullying and brutality; a place where one can be exposed to anger, bitterness and resentment. Joseph found himself in the prison! Yet in this same situation, the scripture tells us the Lord was with Him. But notice the result of the Lord's presence - MERCY and FAVOR. This ensured that Joseph was preserved and kept away from harm. Notice the expression, ".....He gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.” Complete and total protection guaranteed! Are you feeling distressed and in despair to the point of giving up? Are you feeling lonely in your current situation and circumstance? Be of good cheer, the Lord is with you to show you mercy and favor. Hebrews 13 gives great assurance - “....For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” Hebrews‬ ‭13:5-6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ As you go into this week, you can be confident of Gods presence with you that brings mercy and favor.
