The Lords testimony

Psalms 119:99

I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.

How often have we heard people discredit the events of the bible? Often we see people make jest of miracles of the past. Even as believers we often doubt whether these things are true. Hence, we are failing to pass it down the generations with utmost conviction.

Notice what the psalmist has to say in Psalms 119:99 'I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation'. In other words meditating on the God's testimonies gives and brings great understanding. Spending time to think and talk about the things that God has done in the past can be a great tool of encouragement to us today. Thinking about them over and over brings revelation, which in turn ushers us into present realities.

But what are the testimonies of the Lord one may ask? These are the acts of God as revealed to us by the scriptures. They are the testimonies of the Lord. The psalmist says he spends time meditating on those. For example, consider what David said in 1 Samuel 17:37 at a time when he was facing Goliath while others had run away from the giant due to fear and terror. 1 Samuel 17:37 'David said moreover, The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the Lord be with thee'. You see David must have been thinking about the things God had done for him and it was easy for him to trust God to help face his present difficulties. He had more understanding of the situation than any around him at that time...including the king. Everyone had ran away from the giant but David stood his ground because of the testimony he had of the Lord.

Do you know that the testimonies of the Lord is prophetic. Oh yes it is! Revelation 19:10 says. 'And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellow servant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy'. The testimony of Jesus is prophetic, and meditating of them brings great understanding and ushers us into the prophetic where we experience its realities.

These are some testimonies of the Lord: the lord divided the Red Sea (Exodus 14:15-30); He pulled down the walls of Jericho (Joshua 6:20); the Lord shut the mouth of lions in the lion's den (Daniel 6:22); the Lord opened the eyes of blind Bartimeus (Mark 10:46-52); the Lord healed the paralytic (Mark 2:1-11); the Lord raised Lazarus from the grave (John 11:41-44). These are prophetic and meditating on these and many more brings understanding and revelation of Gods presence and abilities into our present situations.

I often tell my wife "honey Lazarus actually rose up from the dead after 4 days as recorded in scriptures (John chapter 11)". This is a powerful testimony of the Lord that has helped my faith over the years...and still does as I keep meditating on it.

Which testimony or testimonies of the Lord intrigues you or stands out for you? Which one of them can you relate to your present situation of life? Meditate on them. Talk about them from time to time. They are prophetic. They will surely be a reality for you in your greatest point of need or difficulty.

Have a wonderful week meditating on Gods word (His testimonies) and see God come through for you.

God bless you.
