For God Is My Father (Pt 4)

2 Peter 1:2

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord.

Unto greater grace

How often have we asked and prayed 'Heavenly father give me grace'? How often have we cried out to God for peace? Perhaps countless times. In fact grace and peace seems to be so much in our prayers in these unpredictable and perilous times. Grace and peace seems to be much needed in our lives, homes, work lives, and even in our 'church lives'. What do you think?

Notice the passage in 2 Peter 1:2 tells us something very important about grace and peace...that they can be multiplied (increased) and then it goes on to tell us exactly how this can happen. Not by praying! Not by begging! Not by wishing! But by getting to know The Father...our Heavenly Father. The scripture is simply saying - do you want abundant grace, and do you want abundant peace, such to overflow?, then get to know our Heavenly Father. Get more acquainted with our Heavenly Father because the more we know the Father, the more grace and peace we experience.

This is wonderful indeed! Multiplied grace! Multiplied peace! Simply by getting to know our Heavenly Father more. Yes, it's really that simply.

2 Peter 3:18 further buttresses the fact that grace can multiple. "But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen". You see, grace can grow and multiply, and that through the knowledge of our Heavenly Father and our Lord Jesus.

But someone might ask - but how can I get acquainted with God? How can I know him? One among many ways is by studying and meditating on the bible (word of God) and allowing it to gain mastery over us: what I may call quality personal devotion. That is approaching the scriptures devotionally. And someone might also say - but it is boring reading the bible. One key question we must always answer when studying the bible is this - is the bible or scripture a product of human imagination or is it a result of divine inspiration. If the latter is the answer, then we are in for a great encounter and experience with our Heavenly Father. 2 Timothy 3:16 says 'All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:'

Can you imagine how more fruitful and productive our lives can be with the abundance of grace?...the grace of God! Can you imagine the quality of our lives with the overflow of peace.?..the peace of God.

Paul said in ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬ “But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.”

Our lives can be tremendous. We can indeed accomplish so much with less stress, abounding in grace and peace. And the bible has given us the key, which is through the knowledge of our Heavenly Father. God is our heavenly, so let us put in more effort in knowing God more.

Please take a moment and reflect on these:

What is your attitude towards the bible being Gods word?

Do you feel devoted to it?

How much time are you spending each day, each week or each month looking into the bible?

What areas of your life can you adjust today to improve your engagement with the bible?

Let us move towards greater grace in Him.

Remain blessed and have a wonderful week.
