Walk In Love (Pt 1)

Walk in love “Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5:1-2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ 'I love you' Take a moment and think about this expression 'I love you'. When was the last time you heard someone say to you, 'I love you'? How did you feel? What made you feel the way you felt? On the other hand, when was the last time you told someone 'I love you'? What did you mean? Did you really mean it? How often have we heard this expression 'I love you' from either our spouse, friends, loved ones and occasionally from people at our workplaces and everyday life. Even in church today, we also hear the expression 'I love you with the love of the Lord'. But the real question remains: Will you be there when I need you? How would you behave when I make a mistake? How would you behave when I need mercy or understanding from you? The passage we read in Ephesians 5:1-2 admonishes us to imitate, follow and copy God by walking in love. But it also tells us how...as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us... You see, the love that Christ has for us is sacrificial. So for us to really walk in love, we have to put others first; we have to put others interest first. Notice in the passage we read...'as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us...' Mark 8:34 further buttresses the point in putting others first...“If anyone wishes to follow Me [as My disciple], he must deny himself [set aside selfish interests], and take up his cross [expressing a willingness to endure whatever may come] and follow Me”‭‭. Mark‬ ‭8:34‬ ‭(AMP‬‬). Thus when we are conscious about others interest, then we will be poised to show mercy and understanding when needed; we will be able to make room and be patient with others; we will be there for them as an expression of our love for them. For love is seen in our behavior and the way treat people, whether it is to our spouse, friends, loved ones or everyday people. In the light of Ephesians 5:1-2, let us reflect on how we treat people. Are we truly walking in love? May the Lord help us in our walk as His imitators and followers. Do have a wonderful week and God bless you.
